What a score is made of

One number, with the working shown.

Every product gets a single editorial score out of 100. It is built from six parts, and each part comes from something we read or looked up, never from a star rating or a sales rank.

Three checks on every pick

Before a product earns a recommendation.

1

We look it up

A certification on a listing is a claim. We search the certifier’s own public record and note who holds it, what it covers and when it expires.

2

We search for recalls

Government recall databases are searched for every brand we rank. A search with no result is reported as exactly that, never as a promise of safety.

3

We check who sells it

Amazon, the brand, or a third party? When it is a third party we open the seller profile. A known brand with a thin seller record is not ranked.

Before you ask.

Is a certified product automatically a better one?

No. A certification covers one specific thing, such as how cotton was grown or what a formula contains. It says little about how well the product works, and we score certification as only one part of the total.

Where do your picks come from?

We search Amazon.com the way a shopper would, keep one product per brand, read each full listing and then check its claims against public records. We rank only brands we can verify, and we name the ones we set aside.

Why put a number on it?

A single score lets you compare at a glance, and the breakdown underneath shows exactly where points were gained or lost. If a score surprises you, the reasons are on the page.

Do brands pay you?

Natural Picks is reader-supported: when you buy through our Amazon links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. No brand pays to be featured or ranked. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. How we make money.

Why are there no prices?

We show a price only when Amazon’s own data gives us a current one, with the time it was fetched. Until then we show none instead of a number that may be out of date.

Do you test the products yourselves?

Not unless a guide says so. Guides are labeled either "Research-based comparison" or "Hands-on tested", and we never use the second label unless we actually tested.

What if I think a score is wrong?

Tell us. If you can point to a line on the listing or a record we missed, we will check it and correct the guide with a dated note. See our corrections policy.
